Banana Belt #2.5 or 3 – March 15, 2009 I was going to try to write a race report about the 2nd (technically the 3rd) Banana Belt, but what can you say about a race that you just did a few weeks before? The only real difference was the rain and the lack of personalized birthday cakes (I am petitioning for those to be a weekly thing next year). Banana Belt #2 – March 8, 2009 Outraged by my previous blog assertion that the Banana Belt race series is devoid of jokes and gags, the folks down at the OBRA pulled out all the prank-stops today. Not only was the race scheduled for THE DAY daylight savings begins (robbing us of one sweet hour of morning sleep), but they also had it on a day with predicted snow showers. Banana Belt #1 – March 1, 2009 Unlike some other poorly titled bike races that imply the presence of baked goods that aren’t there, the Banana Belt is well stocked with actual bananas. The waiver sheet tables are laden with cornucopias (cardboard boxes) full of fruit for all. I have no complaints there. But let me ask you, what do think of when you think of bananas? Well, hilarious slipping and sliding of course! And this is where this race series really falls short: There is a serious dearth of banana peel antics. Now, the term “banana belt” ...
